These words came to mind when I closed my eyes and let myself be carried away listening to the classical “Piano Sonata No.3 in B Minor, OP.58:1. Allegro maestoso” performed by Lang Lang ( @langlangpiano ).
He strikes a perfect balance between the faster, livelier parts of the sonata and the calmer, more tranquil sections, achieving a harmony of sounds and musical notes from the grace with which the keys are touched— a celebration of life through music.
To visually represent all of these feelings, I outlined a female figure in a ballet pose, in the form of a gilded statue.
Sound waves woven with gold thread envelop the statue, becoming entwined and altogether transforming it, while the musical notes detach from the stave, performing a playful dance.
As Lang Lang said, “Music is part of art.” But music is also part of life, being able to enliven everything around us, to touch even the most relentless souls.
This artwork is my submission for the Art of Sound competition organized by @harmankardon / @harmankardoneurope – #harmankardonsuites2022
